District Council is the governing body that oversees all activities within the District. It is currently comprised of 24 high school students who have a fervent passion for Interact. They dedicate a copious amount of time to keep the District's inner workings running smoothly. Much of this work is behind the scenes, so Interactors do not normally see all the effort and time that the District Council puts in, but trust in the Council that they are working very hard. They also organize and plan all of the District wide events such as the Fall Leadership Conference.

Last year, Area 12 made BOMB shirts for the project "Hydraid", so we decided to continue their legacy and create an international project t-shirt for our whole district! We thought it would be more fun if we opened this up to the whole district because DC definitely admires the creativity all of you Interactors have!

T-shirts should include:
-"End Polio Now"
-Interact 5170
-2009-2010
-A catchy slogan or phrase would be nice!"Service Above Self" could work!
-Appropriate for a red shirt
-Feel free to add images on your shirt, but DO NOT include area mascots. This is a DISTRICT shirt!
BE CREATIVE!

Once you have created your design, please upload it to this event OR email it to international@interact5170.com . Please try to have your designs in by December 18th, because District Council will be voting at their next DC meeting.

The winner will receive a FREE t-shirt! yayay :)

If you have any questions, feel free to contact either Jeanie or Nikita at international@interact5170.com!

Good luck!!

Hello lovely Interactors of 5170!

Let me introduce myself, just in case we haven't met. :) My name is Tiffany Nguyen, and I am your 2009/2010 District Council Secretary. It's been over a month since our spectacular Fall Leadership Conference, and I hope you all are still hyped up about End Polio Now! (End Polio when? NOW NOW NOW!)

For the secretaries and treasurers, I hope you all gained something out the workshops that Vikram, Ankit, and I put together. 40 minutes may have been too short for you all to substantially gain something, but we do hope that you all remember what Interact superstars you are. If not, look at those red beads from FLC, and remember what they symbolized.

FLC may be over, but that doesn't mean that we can't still talk about secretary and treasurer business! If there's anything I want to do this year, it is to help others realize that what they can do with their position is limitless. Each and every person is capable of doing great things, leaving his/her own legacy.

My question to you is, how do you want to be remembered? As a secretary, do you want to be remembered as the person who took minutes and did hours, or do you want to be recognized as the person who revolutionized the meaning/impact of Interact Service? As treasurer, do you want to be remembered as the person who counted money, or do you want to spread the impact, bring awareness to how much money your club raised? What I'm trying to say is, think outside the box. You can do so much more to your position than the description entails. Your own personal objective this year should be doing inspiring others to carry on your legacy. And, this applies to any other officer as well- Presidents, Historians, Publicists, Board Members, etc. How do you want to be remembered?

Keep that in mind, and I can ensure you, this Interact year will end with a big BANG.

And if you ever need anything, don't be afraid to shoot me an email- secretary@interact5170.com.
I love emails!
