Cal Sleepover: Mar 13 or Mar 27
This year, we will be having another sleepover at University of Berkeley! The sleepover will include a tour of the campus, information about the majors they offer, INTERACTion with the Rotaractors and their experience, a chance to meet your new companions that are attending next year, and the opportunity to eat some of the greatest food offered at Cal. This is a great experience for those who are interested in going to UCB, wondering how the campuses are, or just pondering at what Berkeley has to offer to you. College acceptance letters will also be sent out around that time, so this will also provide a further introduction to those attending next fall. We are aiming to have it on March 13th or March 27th, so save those dates.
Spaces are limited, so please let me know if you want to attend, so we can keep track of our numbers.

2. Give to the Giving Tree. Pick up a donation card and buy a gift for a child in need. Can be found at the library, school, and if not, email area12@interact5170.com for details. Make this a chapter activity!

Hi guys,

The order form for the D5170 merchandise is uploaded onto our Area 12 group. I have some leftover merchandise (the gold D5170 pins) so if you just want to buy it for yourself and not for your club to sell, let me know.

Also, today is Halloween! I encourage all of you to email all your members and tell them to Trick or Treat for End Polio Now (like Trick or Treat for UNICEF). Just have them search images for "End Polio Now" and print out some materials to stick onto a can or box, and collect change! Interact chapters usually can make $300 from this! If you have a Youthact chapter, you can make even more (Youthact usually makes $500) since more of them trick or treat and they younger so when they ask for donations, adults are like "AWWWW so cute" For facts for their spiel when asked about the project, look to the Youtube video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VhmLYWeTT0. One of our Interact officers also posted something to put on the cans on our group downloads page.

Vijay Prakash, the voice behind "Jai Ho" from Slumdog Millionaire, is performing a live concert in Cupertino (Area 12) to benefit PolioPlus. Invite your Interactors if you know anyone who's a fan of the movie! It's the day after Skate, Glo + Froyo! Please email this out to your members, it's organized by Cupertino Rotary and we want to help support them! See: http://xumri.com/jaiho.html :)

Also, I made a desktop wallpaper for End Polio Now. Now you can adorn your computers with some Interact love 24/7! Just right click on the image and click "set as desktop background". It's here: http://twitpic.com/npe7r/full

Peace, Love,
Area 12 Interact :)

100% of the proceeds will be donated to International Action for Children, the 2008 Interact District 5170 International Project. This project will help educate and improve the lives of children in Ghana, Panama, and Tibet. Our efforts will help:

The first project will help build a school in Ghana to educate young children to become erudite individuals. The next project will help teach young children how to be self-sustaining through farming in Panama. We will also be working with the Terma Foundation to help cure children in Tibet whom have preventable diseases.

Last year, we raised over $7,000! Let’s try to beat this and reach our goal of $10,000 to help kids around the world!! :]
